Research & Planning: Final song choice

Avicii - Nights

I have chosen this song as the song is brand new and does not even have a professionally made music video. The song was also included in one of the most popular football franchise FIFA 15, meaning the song is popular but fairly un-heard of as the song is not officially released for download. The song also has strong lyrics I can work from to produce a good linking music video.

Research & Planning: Artists using kinetic typography in music videos

Avicii - Hey Brother

Avicii - Wake me up

Avicii - You make Me

Research & Planning: kinetic typography ideas

This is actually some kinetic typography for the movie “Zombie land”, someone made this as a project and it is not at a professional level. This is very creative because it uses extracts from the movie as quotes. It also uses a great range of effects to keep the video intresting, while keeping the video looking very professional.

Research & Planning: Inspiration

I have been watching lots of Avicii videos where he experiments with lyrics where they pop up on screen and stop motion. This is effective because the audience can sing along as the song is played, this keeps the audience engaged and interested in the video. This is shown on the amount of views the artist has on his YouTube videos. His kinetic typography videos average over 100 million views meaning they are successful.

Research & Planning: What is a trailer?

What are trailers? A film trailer is made up of clips usually taken from the final cut of the film.

Why are they made? Film trailers main purpose is to advertise the film. They do this by creating a buzz around the film making people wanting to go a see the film.

How do they work? Film trailers work in two ways, firstly a film trailer can give enough information about the film so that the audience get the plot without giving away the ending to the film. Alternately they can give very little information about the film, making audience want more information.

Who are they for? They are aimed at the general public to persuade people to watch the new release.

Where do we see them? Film trailers are shown almost everywhere cinemas, YouTube, social media and on TV.

When are they released? Film trailers are released anytime up to a year before the release of the film. Teaser trailers are generally shorter and realised up to 2 years before release without showing actual clips from the film.

Research & Planning: My Intentions

My name is Louis Chadwick, this is my media A2 blog and I am a student at Biddulph High School. I am very interested in the film industry and I plan on researching, creating and evaluating a film trailer or a music video. If I create a music video I will use the genre of R&B or hip-hop as this is the type of music Listen to on a daily basis. I will research both projects into both briefs to help me decide which one I would like to create. I feel that film trailers would be very limited to budget if I would like to create a film trailer in the genre I am interested in such as action.
